Stafford schools exceeds United Way goal

The Stafford County school system raised a little more than $82,000 this year for Rappahannock United Way–about $18,000 more than its goal, the division announced on its website.

“The Stafford School community’s commitment to caring will go to help health and human service providers who are working to meet the growing needs of our community’s most vulnerable,” the website states. ”The support of the Rappahannock United Way will ensure the ability of its agencies to provide much-needed services to make the lives of children, youth, adults and families live united through education, income and health.”

Rocky Run Elementary School off U.S. 17 near Geico raised $5,000, the most of any school. Its participation rate of almost 59 percent was also the division’s highest.
