Former Caroline superintendent to be King George’s interim schools chief
Retired Caroline County Superintendent Stanley Jones will be King George County’s interim superintendent effective January 3.
The King George School Board voted to appoint Jones today after interviewing him and two other candidates, Chairwoman Renee Parker said. King George Superintendent Candace Brown is retiring at the end of December.
”He’s obviously familiar with a rural environment and is very attuned to the community’s involvement with the schools…and their expectation for the school system,” Parker said in a telephone interview.
Jones retired in 2008 after six years as Caroline’s schools chief. He will make $500 a day as King George’s interim superintendent, Parker said.
The School Board is scheduled to begin its search for a new superintendent in January, when three new members take office. If all goes as planned, the permanent superintendent will start July 1.
