Stafford looking at site for new Moncure Elementary
The Stafford County school system is in the process of purchasing property off Juggins Road for a new Moncure Elementary School, Chief Facilities Officer Scott Horan said.
The division is conducting a feasibility study to determine whether the land is appropriate for a school. The school would open in September 2017, based on the proposed capital plan.
The current school is off Garrisonville Road and is surrounded by shopping centers. The proposed new location is less than a mile away.
Moncure, which opened in 1966, has a capacity of 754 students. The new school would be 88,700 square feet and have a 950-student capacity, based on the division’s proposed capital plan.
The School Board is scheduled to approve its capital plan next month.
