UMW delays start of class by a day

University of Mary Washington classes are scheduled to begin on Tuesday instead of Monday because of ”forecasts of extreme weather conditions,” according to a campus advisory posted on the school’s website.

Here’s the advisory:

Due to forecasts of extreme weather conditions on Saturday and Sunday, all UMW classes are canceled for Monday, Aug. 29; classes for the semester will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 30. For returning students, residence halls will be open for move-in on Monday, Aug. 29. Students with extenuating circumstances may make arrangements to move in on Friday, Aug. 26.
