UMW scheduled to open $38.6 million technology center in 2014

The University of Mary Washington hopes to open a $38.6 million information and technology convergence center in fall 2014.

The state recently approved funding for the four-story, 76,720-square-foot facility. It will be next to UMW’s Simpson Library along campus walk—the Fredericksburg school’s main walkway.

“This will be a building that looks very 18th century on the outside and will be totally 21st century on the inside,” said UMW Associate Provost John Morello, chair of the center’s building committee.

The university plans to break ground in summer 2012. The convergence center will take two years to build.
