King George High hosts fourth Coffee House event
King George High School issued the following news release:
On Friday, May 20 from 7-9 PM, the English Department hosted its fourth annual Coffee House event.
Students presented poems, short stories, songs, debates and speeches in an open area coffee house setting, complete with a buffet of goodies.
The SCA also presented several students with awards at the end of the night. The winners were as follows:
Best original poem: Don Smith
Best original short story:
1st place- Lynnsey DelGrande
2nd place-Sara Francis
Best legislative debate: Christen Green
Best policy debate:
1st place-Lynnsey DelGrande
2nd place-Kyra Bacon
Best performance of a published poem:
1st place-Destiny Levere
2nd place-Anthony Howard
Best performance art: David Deegan
Best performance of a published song:
1st place-Jessica Ficher
2nd place-LaDelyn Williams
Best performance of an original song: Marc and Austin Miller
Best performance of a published song:
Duo performance- Ray Celeste and Kasey Tyson
Group performance- Michael Such, Sammy Hastings and Tristan Stoyanof
All money raised will fund the English Department’s two scholarships- the Kathy Sydnor Creative Writing Humanitarian Award, and the Viola M. Graves English Award.
