UMW names new dean of the College of Business
The University of Mary Washington today announced that Lynne D. Richardson will be dean of the school’s College of Business.
Richardson, who was dean for Mississippi State University’s College of Business for 3 1/2 years, will start July 25. She has also been dean of the Miller College of Business at Ball State University.
At UMW, Richardson will “oversee matters regarding faculty, the curriculum, academic programs and academic support for the College of Business,” according to a UMW press release. The College of Business has 24 full-time faculty members, in addition to adjunct faculty.
Larry Penwell had been acting dean of UMW’s College of Business since July 2010.
“I am extremely delighted that Dr. Richardson will be joining us as founding dean of the College of Business. She brings extensive experience and national prominence as dean,” UMW Provost Jay Harper said in a statement. “I expect her to lead a dedicated and excellent group of faculty to regional and national distinction. I anticipate that she will extend and strengthen the connections and partnerships with regional corporations and businesses.”
Richardson received a doctorate in marketing from the University of Alabama.
