Fredericksburg police spot abduction suspect
Fredericksburg police spotted an abduction suspect yesterday afternoon on Caroline Street but were unable to apprehend him.
An officer saw Rodney Lynch, 37, on the 100 block of Caroline Street, Lt. James Kuebler said yesterday. A foot chase ensued, and Lynch ran over a railroad bridge into Stafford’s Ferry Farm area.
Police were searching the area yesterday evening, Kuebler said.
Lynch was last seen about 4 p.m. yesterday wearing a gray hoodie, brown pants and a brown skull cap. He has dreadlocks, is 5-foot-6, 165 pounds and is believed to be combative. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call city police at 540/373-3122.
Lynch is accused of abducting a 56-year-old woman he knows in Heritage Park, police said. The woman was getting into her truck preparing to go to work last week when Lynch—who used to live in her home—walked up, told her to get into the vehicle and threatened to kill her.
After driving around for a while, Lynch agreed to let the woman go if she gave him some money, police said.
He escorted her to an ATM, where police said she got an undisclosed amount of cash and gave it to him.
