Brooke Point High and Stafford Middle on lockdown this morning
Brooke Point High School and Stafford Middle School were on lockdown from 9:20 until about 10:30 this morning, school spokeswoman Valerie Cottongim told me today. Two “unidentified young people” are believed to have entered Brooke Point High with the general student population, and they attempted to talk with a student in a classroom. A teacher prevented them from talking with the student and reported the incident to the school’s office. It’s unclear what the two people–who Cottongim said are not students–said to the teacher. The division put Brooke Point on lockdown–which means nobody can enter or leave the school–as a precautionary measure and ended it after police had searched the school inside and out. Stafford Middle was also on lockdown because of its proximity to Brooke Point, she said. The Stafford Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, and three deputies remained at Brooke Point during the school day, Cottongim said.
