Leadership changes announced in Caroline schools
Two new principals will take the helm at two Caroline elementary schools next year.
Jason Mack, who was the principal at Bowling Green Elementary, will become an assistant principal at Caroline Middle School.
In his place, L. Michelle Jones will become the principal.
Jones was a principal and assistant principal at Southside Elementary School in Dinwiddie. She was also previously a teacher at Jacob L. Adams Elementary School in Henrico County.
She has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master’s degree in special education from the University of Phoenix. She earned her bachelor’s of science degree in elementary education and history with a minor in music education from Fayetteville State University.
She begins July 29.
At Lewis and Clark Elementary, principal Harold Pellegreen resigned and will become the principal at Taylor Elementary in Fairfax County.
Cynthia Aref will take his place.
Aref was most recently an assistant principal at Hampton Oaks Elementary in Stafford. She’s also been a classroom teacher for first, third and fifth grade in Fairfax and Charles County, Md.
She has a master’s degree in educational leadership from George Mason University and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
She begins Wednesday.
