Policy change at Department of Social Services
The following notice was posted on the Caroline County website regarding a policy change in the county’s Department of Social Services.
Beginning April 7, 2014 Caroline Social Services
customers will be seen on an appointment only basis. We
regret any inconvenience this may cause but feel this will
better enable us to complete applications and reviews
If you wish to apply for TANF, SNAP, Medicaid, Fuel or
Childcare Assistance you may do so online at
www.commonhelp.virginia.gov. You can also complete
an application at the agency or mail an application to the
agency. You will be given an appointment for an
interview if required for the program you are applying for.
Your interview will be done by telephone. For Medicaid
you can also apply by telephone by calling the COV call
center at 1-855-242-8282.
If you need to drop off paperwork you can do so during
our normal business hours.
Our staff is available by telephone from 8:30 am – 12
noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. If
you do not reach your worker during these times you will
receive a return phone call within 2 business days.
Thank you for your patience during this transition.
