School Board to discuss make up days
At tonight’s meeting, the Caroline School Board will discuss changes to the calendar this year to make up days missed from inclement weather.
As of March 5, students have missed 13 days and had four days with two hour delays.
Five days have been scheduled to be made up already- Feb. 17 and June 16-19. Early dismissal days of Feb. 11, March 11 and Mach 27 were all extended to be full days. April 18 is another early dismissal day that could be extended to be a full day.
If additional time is missed between now and the next meeting, there are options to make up the time:
If two more days are missed, April 24 and 25 could become school days, but these are part of Spring Break.
If one days or three more days are missed, May 26, Memorial Day, could become a school day.
The recommendation from Schools Assistant Superintendent Rebecca Broaddus is that April 18 become a full day of school and if another day is missed to use May 26 for the make up day and if two days are missed, use April 24-25, and if a third day is missed to use May 26 as a make up day.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Caroline Middle School.
