Today declared ‘senior citizens day’ in Caroline
In honor of tonight’s senior gala, put on by the Caroline Rotary Club, the county declared today ‘senior citizens day’ in Caroline.
Here is the resolution the Board of Supervisors approved last week declaring the occasion.
The gala will be 6 to 9 p.m. tonight in the gym of Caroline High School.
Nearly 600 people are expected this year from local churches and senior homes. It’s the 14th year that the Rotary Club has hosted the event.
A gourmet meal will be prepared by the students in the culinary program at the high school. It will include roasted chicken, herb potatoes, a vegetable, salad, bread and dessert. One lucky senior will win a $500 cash prize.
The event isn’t just for Caroline’s golden generation. Students from Caroline High School’s Interact Club, JROTC, National Honor Society and Beta Club assist with seating and serving everyone.
