Caroline High’s graduation rate improves

Virginia’s graduation rate is improving, according to the state’s Department of Education.

The state graduation rate is 89.1 percent. However, Caroline’s graduation rate is still below that, at 85 percent.

Of Virginia’s 326 high schools and schools with graduating classes, 180 achieved graduation rates higher than the state rate of 89.1 percent while 146 were lower, according to VDOE.

Here’s a story in today’s Free Lance-Star about the graduation rates of area high schools for the class of 2013.

Here’s how Caroline fared:

On-time graduation rate: 85 percent (an improvement over last year’s 83.3 percent and 2011′s 82.4 percent)

On-time graduation rates reflect the percentage of students who graduate within four years of entering.

270 graduates

Dropout rate: 10.2 percent (an improvement over last year’s 10.5 percent, 2011′s 11 percent and 2010′s 11.1 percent)
