Transportation board to discuss Ladysmith commuter lot

Caroline County commuters may soon be able to start using a 25 space park-and-ride lot at the Ladysmith Professional Building.

The lot is located at 8051 Prosperty Way.

The George Washington Regional Commission will lease 25 spaces per day at the cost of $1 per space per day. The lot is being leased from Starr Management Corporation.

The lease is on the GWRC’s agenda tonight for action. If approved, the lease would begin Oct. 1 and end Sept. 30, 2014. The spaces would be available Monday through Friday with overnight parking permitted for vanpools only. The spaces will be marked with a green circle or dash. Vehicles utilizing the spaces will be identified by a green parking permit placed in the rearview mirror.

The transportation board meets tonight at 6 p.m. at 406 Princess Anne St. in Fredericksburg.

Western Caroline Supervisor Jeff Black and Port Royal Supervisor Calvin Taylor represent Caroline County on the board.
