Fair partners to hold news conference
Virginia Farm Bureau and Universal Fairs, the two new partners of the State Fair of Virginia, will hold a news conference Thursday at the Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.
The organizations plan to share information about their new partnership’s presentation of the state fair, according to a news release.
This year’s fair is scheduled to run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 7.
Four speakers will be in attendance, which includes Universal Fairs President Mark Lovell, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation President Wayne Pryor, Virginia’s Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore and Caroline County Board of Supervisors chairman Wayne Acors.
Retired racing thoroughbred Covert Action, whose Triple Crown-winning grandsire, Secretariat, was born at The Meadow, will also be on hand to greet guests.
As part of its partnership with the fair and to honor the noteworth racing history of The Meadow, the Virginia Farm Bureau is considering adopting some of the horses currently pastured at the James River Work Center by the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, the release said.
Thursday’s news conference will be held at 10 a.m. at the the mansion.
Representatives of numerous organizations that previously have had a relationship with the fair have been invited, the release said.
