Caroline woman killed in crash
A Caroline County woman was killed Monday in a head-on collision in King William County.
Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 30 around 3:45 p.m., just north of Venter Road.
According to State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2006 Lincoln Town Car crossed over into the northbound lane of Route 30 striking a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup head-on.
The Lincoln was traveling southbound and the Chevrolet was traveling northbound on Route 30 at the time of the crash, he said.
The driver of the Lincoln, Marie R. Robinson-Jones, 62, of Caroline County, who was wearing her safety belt, died at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Henry W. Kirby, 35, of Manquin, who was wearing his safety belt, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center, Molnar said.
Route 30 was closed for approximately 90 minutes. The King William County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the on-going state police investigation.
This crash was not weather related, Molnar said.
