BGE students learn about trees

TEACHING ABOUT TREES

Lisa Deaton, forestry education specialist with the Virginia Department of Forestry, recently conducted a fun forester presentation for third-graders at Bowling Green Elementary. She helped the students act out the life cycle of a tree and shared her knowledge about tree products and how to care for trees. This spring, the students participated in Project Plant It!, a program developed by Dominion to educate children, plant trees and improve the environment. They all got a tree seedling on Arbor Day to plant at home and teachers got a kit of lesson plans and other instructional materials. For more information or to view videos and play games about trees, visit www.projectplantit.com.
