One displaced after house fire

Structure Fire - 10288 Moncure Drive
The Caroline County Department of Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire at 10288 Moncure Drive early yesterday morning. The call was received at 06:15 and units from Ladysmith Fire, Bowling Green Fire,Upper Caroline Fire, and Frog Level Fire were dispatched. The first unit arrived 10 minutes later for find heavy fire coming from the roof of the single story family dwelling. Additional resources were requested from HanoverCounty. It took firefighters approximately 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. The fire appears to have originated from the chimney.
The occupant was rescued by a Caroline County Sheriff’s Deputy that responded to the fire. The patrol officer arrived first on scene prior to the fire department. The structure was deemed unsafe and one adult wasdisplaced. The occupant received assistance from the American Red Cross.
It appears that the residence had no working smoke detectors. The Department of Fire-Rescue wants to reiterate the life saving value of properly installed and operable smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in the home.
