Contractor agrees to lower price of school renovation
A tentative agreement was made today between the Caroline County School Board, Board of Supervisors and contractor A.D. Whittaker to proceed with the Bowling Green Primary School renovation at $10.3 million.
That’s less than the $12 million bid that was originally proposed and less than the $10.5 million the supervisors were willing to pay.
“It appears that we have a win-win and can move forward with the project,” said Supervisor Floyd Thomas. ”The contractor gave us several areas that costs could be reduced and it looks like we can move forward at $10.3 million.”
An additional joint meeting with the School Board and Board of Supervisors will be required to finalize the funding sources and the second phase, Thomas said.
That meeting should take place before the end of the month, he said.
More details when they become available.
