Police seek robbery suspect
By PORTSIA SMITH
Caroline County deputies are searching for a man who robbed a Bowling Green fast food shop Tuesday night and forced two employees into a freezer at gunpoint.
Major Scott Moser with the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office said an armed robbery occured around9 p.m. Tuesday at the Subway sandwich shop in the Bowling Green Plaza.
He said a male wearing a mask approached two female employees as they were dumping out trash at the back of the store. The man displayed a gun and forced the two women to go back into the store, Moser said.
The man held a gun to the head of 17-year Teal Herek’s head and demanded all the cash in the drawer. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, Moser said.
After the man cleaned out the register, Moser said he forced both employees at gunpoint into the store’s freezer, where they stayed for a short period of time until they felt he was gone and called police.
The robbery was captured on surveillance video, which will be used to help identify the suspect. The man fled on foot leaving several items of evidence behind. Moser would not specify what the evidence was.
Moser described the suspect as a tall, thin male that was wearing a dark jacket with a hood, a light colored mesh-style mask and yellow rubber gloves.
The sheriff’s office has received almost immediate response from the public regarding the robbery and is looking to speak with anyone who may have more information.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the anonymous tip line at 804/633-1133.
