Caroline Middle School evacuated

A broken valve in one of the science labs caused an evacuation at Caroline Middle School this morning.

Assistant Superintendent Eric Cunningham  said all students are safe and school has resumed as usual.

Some students at Caroline Middle School were evacuated this morning when a strange smell was detected, said Assistant Superintendent Eric Cunningham.

“The smell of gas was on the eighth grade wing,” he said. “We don’t know what the cause of the smell is. It was evacuated.”

He said the sheriff’s office was called and school officials are on the scene to try to figure out the cause.

Cunningham said it was not a fire.

More details will be released when it becomes available.
