CHS student facing rape, abduction charges
A Caroline High School freshman is facing rape and abduction charges after an alleged incident that occurred on school grounds last week.
According to high school Principal Harper Donahoe, a 15-year-old female sophomore told a friend that an act happened that was against her will in the auditorium after school hours on Thursday. The friend reported it to a teacher, who told an assistant principal that confirmed what happened with the female student, Donahoe said.
Donahoe said a school surveillance video clearly shows the two students entering and exiting the auditorium several times around 5 p.m. He said the doors to the auditorium are usually locked, but an after-school program had been held that evening.
The male student, 14, arrived at school Friday morning and was later arrested.
According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, the male student appeared in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Friday, was appointed an attorney and transported to Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center in Williamsburg.
He is facing one count of rape and one count of abduction, Lippa said.
Donahoe said school administrators are tightening up procedures after school to make sure something like this doesn’t happn again.
The case is still under investigation.
