Local VDOT workers recognized
Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa recognized local area VDOT workers for their efforts in dealing with the aftermath left by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
Both storm systems created widespread driving hazards.
Particularly devastating was Tropical Storm Lee which caused the closing of over thirty roads in Caroline County due to fallen trees and high water.
“During perhaps the most dangerous part of the storm, you guys went out there, surveyed the damage, put up high water and road closing signs, and helped the Sheriff’s Office prevent the needless loss of life” said Lippa. “Your crews continue to work tirelessly at cleaning up road debris and repairing damage” he continued.
Sheriff Lippa presented all fifteen VDOT workers with a “Sheriff’s Coin”, a common gesture among law enforcement and military officials to show camaraderie and to recognize outstanding performance.
