Ruther Glen couple facing drug, child neglect charges
An undercover drug operation in Caroline County led to the arrest of a Lake Caroline couple over the weekend.
Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa said today that narcotics investigators reported that a home in the Lake Caroline subdivision appeared to be frequented by a lot of juveniles.
On July 30, a search warrant was executed and investigators found what they believed to be cocaine and marijuana in the home, along with seven people between the ages of 16 and 23, Lippa said.
Lippa said the home was occupied by Eric McCarter, 40, Jennifer Addie, 38, and their two 16-year-old daughters.
McCarter was arrested and charged with one count of third or subsequent offense of distributing cocaine, one count of possessing cocaine, one count of third or subsequent offense of possessing marijuana and two counts of child neglect. He is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail.
Addie was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was released on a $3,500 secured bond.
The Caroline County Social Services was notified about the investigation and all juveniles present were released to parents or caregivers, Lippa said.
