Stonewall Jackson Road to be closed for 5 days
VDOT Press release:
RAILROAD CROSSING REPAIR SCHEDULED IN CAROLINE
Complete closure of Stonewall Jackson Road (Route 606) in Caroline will be needed at the railroad crossing for a 5-day improvement project
FREDERICKSBURG —Repair work to improve the travel surface for vehicles over a CSX railroad crossing at Stonewall Jackson Road (Route 606) in Caroline County has been scheduled for the week of Monday, Aug. 1 to Friday, Aug. 5.
The crossing will be rehabilitated using concrete to give vehicles smoother passage over the railroad tracks.
To accomplish this work, CSX will close the railroad crossing on Stonewall Jackson Road to all traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1. The crossing will be completely closed to all traffic for five days, and will re-open by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will position electronic message boards along roadways leading to the work zone to give motorists advance warning. Additional signs will be posted to guide motorists along the detour route.
VDOT recommends motorists use the following detour routes, which may add approximately 5-10 minutes to the standard travel time through this area.
For motorists traveling west on Stonewall Jackson Road, or traveling from Route 2, the recommended detour route is a right turn on Macedonia Road (Route 609) to a left turn on Claiborne Crossing Road (Route 660) to a left turn on Guinea Station Road (Route 607), which connects with Stonewall Jackson Road.
