Former supervisor Lorenzo Boxley dies at 80
Lorenzo W. BoxleyLorenzo Wingfield Boxley, 80, departed this life on June 23, 2011, at his residence in Ruther Glen. He was born April 6, 1931.
Lorenzo was a product of the schools of Caro line County and Virginia State University. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 30, 1952, to Sept. 30, 1954. While serving in Korea, he was company commander of 581st Parts Company. He was honorably discharged with the rank of first lieutenant of the Quartermasters Corps.
He served as principal of Lawson Elementary School in King and Queen County. He also served on the Board of Supervisors for Caroline County for 12 years. He was owner and president of the L.W. Boxley Trucking Co. for 27 years.
A family hour will be held today, June 28, from 6 to 7 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Va. 22580. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. at St. John on Wednesday, June 29, with the Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
