No injuries after Skinkers Neck house fire
Press release:
Structure Fire – 2350 Skinkers Neck Road
Caroline County – May 27, 2011
The Caroline County Department of Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire at 2350 Skinkers Neck Road at the Four Winds Club early this morning (May 27, 2011).
The call was received at 1:32 am and fire-rescue units from Port Royal, Ladysmith, Bowling Green, Upper Caroline as well as the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched.
The first unit arrived 11 minutes later to find a mobile home with an attached wooden porch fully involved with heavy fire and smoke. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The fire appears to have originated in the front corner of the attached porch and the cause is undetermined at this time. The structure and all contents were completely destroyed by fire. Total fire loss is estimated at approximately $54,000.
The two occupants self-evacuated from the affected structure with no injuries after being alerted by an operational smoke detector. The occupants have relocated to their primary residents in Essex County and did not require any assistance.
The Caroline County Department of Fire-Rescue wants to reiterate the life saving value of properly installed and operable smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in the home.
