An undercover drug operation in Caroline County led to the arrest of a Ruther Glen man last week.
Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa said this week that investigators had learned that 47-year-old Glen Jerome Flanagan was selling heroin from his home on Penola Road.
On May 18, Flanagan was spotted in the Carmel Church area of the county and arrested during a traffic stop, Lippa said.
During a search of the car, Lippa said deputies found Flanagan’s one-year-old grandson along with $1,000 worth of what authorities believe to be heroin. The child was released to family members and the incident reported to Child Protective Services, Lippa said.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Flanagan’s home and seized a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, suspected marijuana and numerous drug-related items, Lippa said.
Flanagan, a convicted felon, is charged with two counts of distributing heroin, two firearm possession charges, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and felony child neglect.
He was transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail and held without bond.
