Lippa: Dawn drug ring leader arrested
Caroline County authorities have arrested a man they describe as “the leader of a cocaine distribution ring in the Dawn area.”
Jeffrey Goodall, 43, of Dawn, is charged with three counts of distributing cocaine after police executed a search warrant at his home today.
Sheriff Tony Lippa said more charges are pending.
Two cars, a boat, a 12-gauge shotgun, a .44 caliber handgun, plastic baggies believed to be holding cocaine, financial documents and more than $10,000 in cash were seized in the raid, Lippa said.
Lippa said Goodall was the subject of a seven-year undercover investigation by the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators reported purchasing thousands of dollars worth of cocaine from Goodall during the undercover investigation and made more than 60 arrests in relation to cocaine distribution stemming from the southern region of the county before gaining the necessary evidence to arrest Goodall, Lippa said.
Lippa said this arrest is a major blow to the cocaine distribution ring in the county.
“The Caroline Sheriff’s office has received numerous complaints from concerned
citizens which have assisted this operation and others,” he said. “The dedicated work of your
Sheriff’s Office and the continued support of the citizens of Caroline County have resulted in the arrest of an individual who investigators suspect as being the leader of drug distribution ring.”
Units of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Team, Patrol units and Special Emergency Response Team were assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the King George County Special Emergency Response Team and members of the Virginia State Police in executing two search warrants in this case.
