Caroline man sentenced in Louisa for teen sex
BY PORTSIA SMITH
A Caroline County man will spend two years in jail for having sex with a teenaged prostitute in Louisa County.
Darren Dewaine Toombs II, 22, of Woodford, was sentenced to five years in prison with all but two years suspended. He pleaded guilty to carnal knowledge in Louisa County Circuit Court in December.
According to Louisa Commonwealth Attorney Tom Garrett, Toombs was convicted of having consensual sex with a 14-year-old girl from Spotsylvania County.
According to Toombs, the teen set him up because she was mad at him for helping put the girl’s pimp, a Spotsylvania man, in prison.
During today’s sentencing hearing, Toombs admitted to having sex with the girl, but said he did not pay for the sex. He later testified that he did pay for the Louisa hotel room that they had sex in.
After the court hearing, he was charged with perjury.
“It is a tragedy when anyone is forced into prostitution, even more so when the person is a child,” Garrett said.
