Two students are district winners in art contest
Congratulations! 2010 District Reflection Winners
Art Specialist Vera Underwood, of Lewis and Clark Elementary School in Ladysmith, is proud to announce that two of her students are District winners in the National PTA Reflections Contest (Visual Arts Category).
The first level (Local) of judging took place at the school in November from which first, second and third place winners were selected for each grade level. The five first place winning pictures were then sent to Fredericksburg for the District level judging.
Lewis and Clark Elementary had two winners, Alyssa Morgan and Gavin Fitzgerald!
Alyssa won first place at the Primary level (K-2) and Gavin won first place at the Intermediate level (3-5).
Both pictures have been sent to the State level for the next round of judging. Alyssa is a 2nd grader in Ms. Coyle’s room and Gavin is a third grader in Ms. Hineman’s room.
Mrs. Underwood has all of her students participate in the contest each year, which is open to students K-12 in the categories of Visual Arts, Literature, Photography, Dance, Film Production and Music. Alyssa and Gavin’s entries were selected as winners from among those submitted by other elementary schools such as Conway, Hugh Mercer, Livingston, and Grafton Village.
