February 1^st through April 15, 2011

Our trained and certified volunteers will prepare and electronically file federal and state (Virginia only) 2010 personal income tax returns. All returns prepared by our counselors will be filed onsite electronically; we do not check paper tax return forms prepared by others.

Service is on an appointment basis and is arranged by calling: Ladysmith Library: 804 448-0357 or the Caroline County Community Center Library: 804 633-5455 Walk-ins will be accommodated on a time-available basis. You must come in person. If you are married and filing jointly, you and your spouse must both come to the site. You will be greeted by our Client Facilitator and asked to present the required I.D. forms.

REQUIRED IDENTIFICATION: You must bring Social Security cards for all persons listed on the return (including children and other dependents) AND a government issued photo I.D. (Virginia driver’s license or I.D. card, passport, or military I.D. card). BOTH FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION WILL BE CHECKED BEFORE WE CAN PROCEED WITH THE INTERVIEW AND TAX PREPARATION HELP. THIS IS AN IRS REQUIREMENT WHICH OUR VOLUNTEERS CANNOT WAIVE. A spouse or a personal representative must bring a Power of Attorney for a disabled or other incapacitated person.

In addition, please bring the following with you: copies of your 2009 tax returns, all forms W-2, 1099s issued to you, and all other documentation of all income sources and/or deductions (taxes paid, mortgage interest paid, charitable contributions, etc.). Please open, sort and organize your tax-related documents and receipts before coming to the site
