Local woman appointed to State Board

Press release from The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office:

Sheriff Tony Lippa is pleased to announce that a member of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Business Advisory Team, Ms. Debbie James, has been elected a 3-year term on the Board of Directors of the Property Owners Association of Virginia. This group governs and regulates all property owners associations in the Commonwealth.

Ms. James, who currently manages the Lake Land’Or Property Owners Association, has been a valued member of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Business Advisory Team since its inception in 2005. The Business Advisory team is made-up of business professionals who assist and advise the sheriff’s office on matters of mutual concern within the county. “The increased communications this team fosters between my office and business owners and managers within the county is essential to effective law enforcement,” said Sheriff Lippa.

He continued, “To be an effective part of the business advisory team, one must possess a can-do personality, be a person of integrity, trust and character. Debbie epitomizes all of these traits. She is dedicated to our tasks and mission.”

Ms. James has made a very positive contribution to Lake Land’Or, where she has served as executive manager for 9 years. She has also been invaluable to our team. She will surely be an asset as she undertakes her new duties.

All of us at the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office are both pleased and proud to see Ms. James take on her new responsibilities.

I am dissapointed that Sheriff Lippa has created the the business advisory group.I would rather see a CITIZENS advisory council for the county.Business leaders and citizens shouldn’t be segregated! To the people of Caroline Sheriff Lippa has been in law Enforcement for about 35 years and its time for him to retire so new and better ideas can come into the county!

The needs of business owners are often different from those of consumer-citizens. I’m thankful that Sheriff Lippa reaches out to several groups and not just the detractors.

Is this segregation or just equal time for different groups of people?

Seems to me that in contrast to the prior administration, Sheriff Lippa IS the new idea. What should be changed?

It’s great that Ms. James is going to be part of regulatory board. I do work with with Real Estate Board and learn a great deal at each sub-committee.

Exposure to the regulator process and other Associations should help turn around some of the issues that Lake Land’or currently faces. In a recent meeting with the LLPOA Board I was very pleased to see who open to new ideas and changes they were.
