Marijuana operation busted in Lake Caroline
A joint investigative effort between the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police resulted in the seizure of an indoor marijuana growing operation being ran out of a residence in the Lake Caroline sub-division in which Investigators say a one year old and two year old child were living with the suspects.
During the execution of a search warrant at 207 Tranquility Drive, Ruther Glen, VA, Caroline Narcotics Investigators seized 127 marijuana plants and several containers of marijuana along with a handgun and various marijuana cultivating related items. Investigators value the seized marijuana at $381,000.00.
Investigators said the home being used for this marijuana growing operation was also used as the primary residence for the suspect and his family. Twenty-four year old Heriberto Pena, a resident of the Dominican Republic, was arrested for manufacturing marijuana, possessing a firearm while possessing more than five pounds of marijuana and two counts of child endangerment. Pena, who was already scheduled for a deportation hearing in the United States Court later this year, is being held at the Pamunkey Regional Jail with no
bond. Child endangerment charges are expected to be placed against the mother of the children in the near future.
