Paige Road is closed temporarily
Part of Caroline County road closed
Bridge construction has closed a section of Paige Road in Caroline County.
While a new bridge is built across the Mattaponi River, the Virginia Department of Transportation is closing part of the street to pass-through traffic.
Residents living along Paige Road will be allowed to use the street during the bridge work.
Paige Road intersects with U.S. 1 on its western end, and State Route 2 on its eastern end near Bowling Green.
Detour signs are in place, directing drivers to use State Route 638 (South River Road) to State Route 626 (Woodford Road) to State Route 609 (Woodslane Road) to travel between Route 2 and Paige Road and points west.
The $660,000 project is being built by Bryant Contracting Inc.
The project is expected to be finished in October.
