AT ITS JANUARY 20, 2010 MEETING
- SPEX-02-2009 – Ladysmith Floor & Lumber: Request a Special Exception Permit in accordance with Article XVII and Article X, Section 3.9, on a portion of tax map #53-A-10, consisting of 1.3958 acres, more or less, zoned M-1, Industrial. This property is located on Route 633 (Bull Church Road) approximately ¾ of a mile north of Route 639 (Ladysmith Road), Mattaponi Voting District. Proposed Use: Caretaker’s Residence. The 2006 – 2026 Comprehensive Plan identifies this area as Rural Preservation with a density of one dwelling unit per ten acres of land

- SPEX-07-2009 – Chenault Lumber, Inc., Owner; Frankie L. Chenault, Applicant: Request a Special Exception Permit in accordance with Article XVII and Article X, Section 3.15, on a portion of tax map #85-A-49, consisting of 1 acre, more or less, zoned M-1, Industrial (with no specified density). This property is located at 23182 Richmond Turnpike (Route 2/301), approximately 1 mile north of Penola Road (Route 601), Mattaponi Voting District. Proposed Use: Minor Auto Repair. The 2030 Comprehensive Plan identifies this area as agricultural preservation with a density of one dwelling unit per 25 acres of land.

- RZ-08-2009 – Virginia Land Investments, LLC, Applicant: Request a rezoning of approximately 1,059.3 acres, variously zoned, to PMUD, Planned Mixed Use Development (with a proposed density of 8.2 dwellings per acre [8,659units] and 3.16 million square feet of office, commercial, and industrial space). Proposed Use: A mixed use, transit oriented development that is proposed to include a train station and other multi-modal facilities, space for retail/commercial, offices, government agencies, hospitals, universities, hotels, recreational uses, light industry, many types of residential development, and parkland.
Public Comments
There were nine public comments in favor of and one public comment in opposition of this rezoning request.
Action Taken
The Planning Commission deferred action on this rezoning request to their February 1, 2010 worksession.
