Flu Shots Temporarily Unavailable for Medicare Recipients at Caroline Health Department
A billing glitch with the federal government will temporarily prevent Medicare recipients from receiving flu shots at the Caroline Health Department according to officials with the Virginia Department of Health Rappahannock Area Health District. Due to federal government rules, Medicare recipients will be turned away should they show up at the Caroline clinic to receive a shot.
Shots will be provided as normal for all other clients at the Caroline clinic, including Medicaid recipients and cash paying clients. The problem affects only the Caroline site; all other Rappahannock Area Health District sites will continue business as usual.
The Health Department is working diligently to resolve the problem and hopes to begin offering shots for Medicare recipients in Caroline County soon.
For more information, contact the Rappahannock Area Health District at (540) 899-4797.
