Food & Wine event to come to Caroline
Virginia Farm Bureau & Community Partners to Host Inaugural Save Our Food Holiday Festival
August 17, 2009
Virginia Farm Bureau is proud to present an upscale and unique food and beverage expo
–—the Save Our Food Holiday Festival—December 12, 2009, at the Farm Bureau Center exhibition hall at
The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County (new home of the State Fair of Virginia).
The Save Our Food Holiday Festival was designed by the Virginia Farm Bureau with support from the
Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Farm
Credit and the Children’s Museum of Richmond to educate consumers about the foods they eat and
encourage everyone to seek out and enjoy all of the delicious locally grown foods available in our region.
The Save Our Food Holiday Festival will feature two live cooking shows featuring a celebrity chef and four
local chefs, a holiday décor stage show featuring horticulturist and radio host Andre Viette, and hundreds
of regional and local vendors that will sell, sample, and take orders for products that are grown and made
right here in our area.
Exhibits will include regional foods, wines, beers, specialty food companies and more. Tasting stations and
a farmers’ market will allow farmers and local restaurants to showcase their delicious and fresh products.
The event also features a hands-on children’s area, produced by the Children’s Museum of Richmond.
This fun and interactive family area will allow children to decorate and enjoy locally made gingerbread
cookies and learn more about how buying and enjoying local food can offer them healthier and fresher
choices.
Guests who visit the Save Our Food Holiday Festival will enjoy a unique retail marketplace featuring
delicious free samples, an opportunity to purchase food and beverage products and take home great new
cooking and food ideas.
Event organizers are looking for restaurants, microbreweries, wineries, co-ops, food producers, farms and
other food businesses interested in participating as a vendor in the festival. To receive an official vendor
application, visit www.saveourfoodfestival.com or email exhibitors@saveourfoodfestival.com.
