Sheriff’s report

Week Ending June 27, 2009 

 

On June 23, 2009, Sergeant R. L. Hixson stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Jason P. Mellen, 27, of Bryans Road, MD was charged with possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a blood test, and reckless driving.  He was ordered held on a $1500 bond and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set. 

On June 23, 2009, Deputy W. D. Lipscomb stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Everett W. Jones, 48, of Mechanicsville was charged with driving under the influence.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of July 10, 2009 was set.   

On June 23, 2009, Deputy J. K. Miller stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Alexander H. Nicholas, 31, of Newport News was charged with reckless driving and driving on a revoked license – 5th offense.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set.  

On June 24, 2009, Deputy M. J. O’Connor responded to an incident in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Kyle E. Chandler, 20, of Ruther Glen was charged with petit larceny and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.  He was ordered held under a $1,000 bond and a court date of June 26, 2009 was set. 

On June 25, 2009, Deputy W. D. Lipscomb responded to a disturbance in Bowling Green.  After investigating, Charles H. Hudson, Jr., 52, of Bowling Green was charged with being drunk in public and resisting arrest.  He was ordered held under a $1500 bond and a court date of August 7, 2009 was set. 

On June 26, 2009, Deputy W. D. Lipscomb stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Donald H. Jackson, 43, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving after being declared an habitual offender, possession of marijuana and he was served with an outstanding warrant from the City of Richmond.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of August 7, 2009 was set.  

On June 26, 2009, Deputy R. J. Anderson responded to a domestic in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Larry W. Shoemaker, Jr., 25, of Ruther Glen was charged with domestic assault.  He was ordered held under a $2500 bond and a court date of June 30, 2009 was set. 

On June 27, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood encountered trespassers at Fall Hole.  After investigating, 3 subjects were charged with trespassing and released on a summons.  All were assigned court dates of August 21, 2009. 

 

Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Wrap Up

 

According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 7 drug arrests, 4 DUI arrests, 8 domestic violence arrests, 99 other criminal arrests and issued 4 animal control summons or arrests during the past week.  The deputies served 340 civil papers, issued 135 traffic summonses, handled 5 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 34 alarm calls, and dealt with 1 juvenile offender.  The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 519 calls for service and handled 1,951 telephone inquiries.  The CCSO also logged 20 calls assisting outside agencies and had 198 self-initiated calls.
