Combined Into One Department
Caroline County Administrator Percy Ashcraft has announced the reorganization of the Public Works and Public Utilities departments.
Effective July 1, the two departments will be absorbed into a new department called Department of Public Utilities. The new department will be directed by John Boryschuk.
As part of the reorganization, Allen Ramsay will serve as superintendent of the Public Works division and Joey Schiebel in the same capacity in the Public Utilities division. Part of Ramsay’s new assignment will be to oversee the solid waste convenience sites and Schiebel will oversee the operations at the wastewater treatment plant.
Another new aspect of the department will be to assume the billing responsibilities for public utilities, which previously had fallen under the Director of Finance. Billing questions, as well as all utility matters, should now be referred to the Public Utilities Department.
Ashcraft reported to the Board of Supervisors at its June 23 meeting the reorganization would save the County just under $55,000.
