To Be Held in Ladysmith
Caroline County’s Summer Camp Program will begin Monday, June 29.
The Board of Supervisors decided to maintain the program after budget recommendations had suggested it close because it was losing over $30,000 every year. The Board approved raising fees from $100 to $250 per child in order to maintain the cost of the program.
Recreation Director Donnell Howard reported at the June 23 meeting of the Board of Supervisors that 31 children had registered for the program this summer, with 28 of them being in the Ladysmith area. Last year, almost 250 children had enrolled.
The Board gave Howard the direction to offer the program this year at Ladysmith and provide transportation for the other students to the Ladysmith site. Should there be increased enrollment for the Bowling Green location, and then it will be offered at Bowling Green. The location in Ladysmith is the former Ladysmith Elementary School.
Registration is still being accepted by calling the Parks and Rec office at (804) 633-7277.
