Summer Youth Program reinstated
Bowling Green, VA, May 28, 2009: At its May 26, 2009 meeting, the Caroline County Board of Supervisors authorized county staff to proceed with the Department of Parks & Recreation’s Summer Camp Program for 2009. The program had previously been eliminated from the County Administrator’s Proposed Fiscal Year 2009/10 Budget due to funding constraints.
The 2009 program will be held Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bowling Green Elementary School and the former Ladysmith Elementary School (located on Route 639 west of the intersection with Route 1) June 29 through August 21. Children ages 5-12 are eligible to participate (children must have completed kindergarten).
The cost is $250 per child, with no sibling discounts. Children will take part in recreational activities such as arts & crafts, board games, sports, educational activities and trips (there is an additional fee for trips). Parents must provide transportation, lunch and a water bottle for each child. A minimum of 25 children must register at each site for the County to move forward with the program.
For more information or to register your child, contact the Department of Parks & Recreation at (804) 633-7277.
