Sheriff’s report

On May 19, 2009, Deputy M. J. O’Connor responded to a reported larceny at a business in Ladysmith.  After investigating, Adam Armstrong, 18, of Ruther Glen was charged with petit larceny and 2 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.  2 juvenile males were also charged with larceny.  Court and bond information were not available. 

On May 20, 2009, Deputy S. Mullane stopped a vehicle in Ladysmith for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, John R. Goss, 66, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence – 2nd offense.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of May 27, 2009 was set. 

On May 21, 2009, Sergeant R. L. Hixson stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Harvey L. Thomas, 42, of Hanover was charged with driving under the influence, eluding, and habitual offender – felony.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of May 22, 2009 was set.  

On May 21, 2009, Deputy K. DiGravio-Ferguson stopped a vehicle in Woodford for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Donna L. Lehuquet, 43, of Woodford was charged with driving under the influence.  She was ordered held under a $1500 bond and a court date of May 22, 2009 was set. 

On May 22, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood had contact with a male in Carmel Church.  After investigating, Julian A. Cochran, 23, of Hopewell was charged with being drunk in public.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set. 

On May 22, 2009, Deputy D. W. Mundie stopped a vehicle in Dawn for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Elvis M. Braxton, 54, of Ruther Glen was charged with possession of a controlled substance.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of May 29, 2009 was set. 

On May 23, 2009, Deputy D. W. Mundie had contact with a male in Carmel Church.  After investigating, James D. Newman, Jr., 55, of Babylon, NY was charged with being drunk in public.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of June 5, 2009 was set. 

On May 23, 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton stopped a vehicle in Carmel Church for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Vincent E. Wilkerson, 40, of Richmond was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.  He was also served with an outstanding warrant from the City of Richmond.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set.   

On May 23, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Larry S. Henderson, 39, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of May 29, 2009 was set. 

On May 23, 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton observed trespassers on Fall Hole Road in the Ruther Glen area of the county.  11 adults were each charged with one count of trespassing.  All were released on summonses and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set for each.

According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 2 drug arrests, 4 DUI arrest, 13 domestic violence arrests, 101 other criminal arrests and issued 6 animal control summons or arrests during the past week.  The deputies served 270 civil papers, issued 211 traffic summonses, handled 8 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 31 alarm calls, and dealt with 8 juvenile offenders.  The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 432 calls for service and handled 1,846 telephone inquiries.  The CCSO also logged 30 calls assisting outside agencies and had 387 self-initiated calls. 

 

On May 9, 2009, Deputy W. D. Lipscomb stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, James P. Tilley, 35, of Richmond was charged with driving under the influence.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of July 10, 2009 was set. 

On May 10, 2009, Deputy K. H. Eichenmiller responded to a fight in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Michael R. Moore, 19, of Ruther Glen and a male juvenile were both charged with assault.  Moore was released on a personal recognizance bond and the juvenile was released to his parents.  A court date of May 15, 2009 was set. 

On May 10, 2009, Sergeant R. L. Hixson responded to a motor vehicle crash in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Kadeen L. Montgomrey, 20, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence, refusing to submit to a breath test and underage possession of alcohol.  He was released on a personal recognizance bond and a court date of May 13, 2009 was set.  

On May 14, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood responded to a domestic disturbance in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, James K. Young, 47, of Ruther Glen was charged with felony domestic assault and being drunk in public.  He was held on a $2,500 secured bond and a court date of May 19, 2009 was set. 

On May 15, 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton encountered trespassers in the Ruther Glen area of the county.  After investigating, Neil T. Hutchinson, 18, of Baltimore, MD; Christopher B. Picarde, 21, of Annapolis, MD and Michael W. Saltzer, 22, of Chesapeake were each charged with trespassing.  All were released on summonses and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set. 

On May 15, 2009, Deputy C. M. Polliard stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After Investigating, Gregory A. Evans, 45, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence.  He was held on a $1,500 secured bond and a court date of May 19, 2009 was set. 

On May 15, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood charged Kayla A. Michaels, 22, of Norfolk, Travis D. Smith, 20, of Salem, Brittany P. Thomas, 20, of South Hill, Mary K. Lewis, 20, of Cheriton, and Alexa M. Tellez-Mansy, 20, of Oakton for trespassing at Fall Hole in the Ruther Glen area of the county.  All five subjects were released on summonses and a court date of June 24, 2009 was set. 

On May 16, 2009, Deputy C. A. Heywood stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Hayes W. Winston, 50, of Montpelier was charged with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a test and no valid operator’s license.  He was held on a $2,500 secured bond and a court date of May 22, 2009 was set. 

On May 16, 2009, Deputy T. P. Connolly responded to a domestic disturbance in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, William C. Myles, 39, of Ruther Glen was charged with Malicious Wounding.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of May 19, 2009 was set. 

On May 16, 2009, Sergeant R. L. Hixson stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Leslie J. Morton, 59, of Bowling Green was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and felony drive after being declared a habitual offender.  He was held on a $7,500 secured bond and a court date of May 20, 2009 was set.

Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Wrap Up

 

According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 2 drug arrests, 3 DUI arrest, 14 domestic violence arrests, 86 other criminal arrests and issued 9 animal control summons or arrests during the past week.  The deputies served 214 civil papers, issued 172 traffic summonses, handled 7 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 36 alarm calls, and dealt with 12 juvenile offenders.  The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 468 calls for service and handled 1,868 telephone inquiries.  The CCSO also logged 27 calls assisting outside agencies and had 174 self-initiated calls.
