Week Ending February 14, 2009 

On February 8, 2009, Deputy P. H. Blasiol stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Steven B. Oney, 19, of Ruther Glen was charged with possession of marijuana.  He was released on a summons and a court date of February 17, 2009 was set. 

On February 8, 2009, Sergeant R. L. Hixson stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Port Royal.  After investigating, Kenneth W. Hairston, 57, of Woodford was charged with driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a breath test.  He was ordered held on a $1500 bond and a court date of February 11, 2009 was set.

On February 9, 2009, Deputy G. J. Hamilton responded to a disturbance in Port Royal.  After investigating, Melissa J. Elliott, 37, of Tappahannock was charged with disorderly conduct.  She was ordered held on a $1000 bond and a court date of February 20, 2009 was set. 

On February 10, 2009, Deputy K. DiGravio-Ferguson responded to a domestic in Ruther Glen.  After investigating, Darin G. Deane, 41, of Ruther Glen was charged with abduction and preventing a person from summoning aid by telephone.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of February 12, 2009 was set. 

On February 12, 2009, Lieutenant K. L. Chatman responded to Mary Washington Hospital at the request of the Fredericksburg Police Department.  An infant had been assaulted and the alleged assault had occurred in Caroline.  After investigating, Ricky L. Collins, Jr., 22, of Spotsylvania was charged with 2 counts of felony child abuse, 1 count of preventing a person from summoning aid by telephone and 1 count of failing to secure medical attention for a child in need of such medical attention.  He was ordered held without bond and a court date of February 17, 2009 was set. 

On February 13, 2009, Deputy C. M. Polliard stopped a vehicle in Dawn for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Shawn C. Mitchell, 28, of Doswell was charged with driving under the influence – 2nd offense.  He was ordered held on a $2000 bond and a court date of February 20, 2009 was set. 

On February 13, 2009, Deputy W. D. Lipscomb stopped a vehicle in Dawn for a traffic infraction.  After investigating, Desahwn T. Hunter, 25, of Ruther Glen was charged with driving under the influence – 2nd offense, driving on a suspended driver’s license – 2nd offense and refusing to submit to a breath test – 2nd offense.  He was ordered held on a $1500 bond and a court date of April 15, 2009 was set. 

On February 14, 2009, Deputy K. H. Eichenmiller responded to a fight in progress in Carmel Church.  After investigating, Lamont W. Haskins, 43, of Ruther Glen was charged with assault.  He was ordered held on a $2500 bond and a court date of February 18, 2009 was set. 

Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Wrap Up

 

According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, Caroline Deputies made 6 drug arrests, 3 DUI arrests, 10 domestic violence arrests, 104 other criminal arrests and issued 2 animal control summons or arrests during the past week.  The deputies served 314 civil papers, issued 321 traffic summonses, handled 6 motor vehicle crashes, responded to 39 alarm calls, and dealt with 11 juvenile offenders.  The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center dispatched 560 calls for service and handled 1,798 telephone inquiries.  The CCSO also logged 30 calls assisting outside agencies and had 278 self-initiated calls.
