Lattitudes Fair Trade Store opening downtown Fredericksburg location

Lattitudes Fair Trade Store, a socially responsible gift shop in Warrenton, is opening a second location in downtown Fredericksburg this fall.

The new store will go into the 4,197-square-foot building at 806 Caroline St. that was formerly home to CIS Sportswear.

Owners Lee and Terry Owsley of Faquier are friends with the owners of Taste Oil Vinegar Spice, which also has a downtown location. Lee Owsley said the Taste owners encouraged them multiple times to expand into Fredericksburg.

“We visited again and really love the town,” she said. “The community fits well with what we are doing. There’s an art community and the college town atmosphere is great.”

Lattitudes sells hand-made, artisanal goods from around the world. Their goal is to foster positive economic relationships between American consumers and marginalized artisans from developing nations.

She hopes to open Oct. 1.
