Marstel-Day wins two major government contracts

Marstel-Day, the Fredericksburg-based environmental consulting firm, has won two major government contacts with the Navy and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The contract with Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington, is a five-year, $22.5 million agreement for a wide range of environmental, planning and natural and cultural resource work, said president and CEO Rebecca Rubin.

The scale of the work includes studying compliance with environmental a preservation law, traffic and noise analysis, air quality analysis, socioeconomic and outreach analyses, mapping and storm water management.

Marstel-Day also won, as a joint venture with Maryland-based LRS Federal, a five-year, $7 million award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for environmental assessment and planning, to ensure the agency’s compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and its own regulations.

The scope of services for that project includes environmental assessments, reports on wetland delineation and use of the sites by migratory species, groundwater studies and documenting possible historic resources sites.
