Honest-1 Auto Care to open Tuesday in Spotsy

Honest-1 Auto Care, a national full-service auto care company, will open its second Virginia franchise Tuesday, June 10 in Spotsylvania County.

Franchisee Miguel Cruz will open the shop at 10350 Courthouse Road, in what was formerly a Hollywood Video.

Cruz, 59, said he has worked on cars throughout his life, and an automotive business seemed like a logical step after retiring from the Civil Service and looking to open his own business.

He grew up in Puerto Rico and spent 16 years in the US Army before joining the Civil Service.

Cruz also owns an Honest-1 in Aelxandria and will open a franchise in Ashburn in September. He also said he is considered adding an additional shop in Spotsylvania or Stafford.

The Spostylvania location will be run by his son Mike Cruz and begin with eight local employees.

“I’m trying to change the perception that auto shops cheat and rip people off,” Cruz said.

Rissy Sutherland, COO of Honest-1, said she and Cruz share a vision of customer care for the company.

Honest-1′s mission is to create a trustworthy, comfortable environment unlike other chains, and to be environmentally friendly with all auto care.

The company employs about 500 people nationwide.

Honest-1 was ranked 321 in Entrepreneur magazine’s 2013 “Franchise 500″ and ranked 338 in the magazine’s 2011 “Franchise 500″ list. Additionally, Honest-1 ranked as one of the top companies in the 2011 and 2012 Lube and Oil News “Top Oil Change-Plus Chains” and in the 2013 “HOT 100 FRANCHISE LIST” by
