Taphouse planning Amelia Square location

RELATED: Fredericksburg Brewfest set for Saturday

The operators of an upscale restaurant that features a large selection of craft beers want to open a location at Amelia Square in downtown Fredericksburg.

Sedona Taphouse is planned at the corner of William and Winchester streets in the Amelia Square development, according to the recently released agenda for Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

The owner plans to buy the parcel of land and build a 5,000-square-foot restaurant that would be expected to open within a year. The facility represents a $2 million-plus investment, according to the Council packet.

Sedona Taphouse has existing locations in Midlothian and Charlottesville.

City Council on Tuesday will consider an incentives agreement that would allow the restaurant operator to receive up to $200,000 in tax reimbursements spread over five years.

The restaurant anticipates hiring 30 people and having gross sales of more than $2 million annually. The restaurant would have to hit performance metrics to receive tax reimbursements. The city expects to net tax revenues of $854,900 from the restaurant over five years.
