Popular restaurant moving into Fredericksburg

MasonDixonA local restaurant and bakery that has developed a loyal following is moving to a new home on Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg.

Kelly Hunt’s Mason-Dixon Cafe & Baking Co. will move this summer to a building at 2100 Princess Anne St. that previously was home to Family Diner and Captain Sid’s. Hunt on Monday signed a lease to occupy the 1,700-square-foot space.

Mason-Dixon Cafe & Baking Co. is currently in Spotsylvania County’s Bowman Center. Hunt said her lease is up at the end of June, and she hopes to open in the renovated Princess Anne Street space by early July. She hopes the restaurant will be closed for only a week during the transition.

Hunt plans to expand the restaurant’s hours and menu and add dinner service in the new space. The cafe will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Mason-Dixon will serve breakfast during the week, and brunch on weekends.

Hunt said she is excited to be moving into a space in the city that is just blocks from where she lives.
